Kakimori POP UP 2026

From Friday, May 1st to Sunday, May 17th, amanai will host a pop-up shop for Kakimori, a stationery store located in downtown Tokyo.

Based on the concept of "people who enjoy writing," Kakimori values the connections and sensibilities gained through the experience of writing, and proposes stationery as everyday items that can be used for a long time. Their "order notebooks" and "order inks," which allow customers to create their own unique stationery, are said to attract visitors from all over the country. Their world of stationery, offering items that are neither too niche nor too broad, but just right, captivates many people.

In addition to Kakimori's regular products, this pop-up will feature a wide variety of seasonal colored inks. We are also delighted to announce the special revival of amanai's original fountain pen ink, "Yōkan-iro." This "Yōkan-iro" ink, which was very popular at our first event, is a shaded, purplish-black color that aligns with the aesthetic of Japanese chiaroscuro, inspired by a passage from Jun'ichirō Tanizaki's essays.

In ancient times, the color of faded black or purple kimonos, such as the kuro montsuki, was reportedly called yōkan-iro. This is a new specification ink that aims for a color scheme that is easy for everyday use and also offers nuances when diluted, with subtle adjustments made specifically for this event.

Letters written with fountain pen ink gain a unique flavor and convey more heartfelt words. For the upcoming season, it is perfect as a writing instrument to add a message to gifts for Mother's Day or Father's Day. Pens and inks themselves also make wonderful gifts.
