Coffee House Shadore at amanai

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, a pop-up event by Shadore, a traditional coffee house in Kamakura, will be held at amanai.
Shadore

Wakamiya Oji is a road that runs north and south to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura. Shadore is located along Dankuzura, halfway between the second and third torii gates. From the second floor, you can see the rows of cherry blossom trees, and it is a traditional coffee house where you can spend a relaxing time while enjoying the atmosphere of Kamakura.

The interior of the shop is set up like a traditional Japanese coffee house, with impressive beams and a counter against a backdrop of cups. When we were preparing to open amanai, we spent our time there to work out the plans. Shadore had opened earlier than us, and at the time it was in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, so we drank in silence, masks on and off. There was hardly any conversation in the silent atmosphere, but I feel like we exchanged words over the deliciousness of the dark roasted coffee brewed with a cloth drip and the density of information. (The owner doesn't seem to remember this.) After that, we were able to form a connection and end up holding an event at amanai.

On the day, we will be serving coffee in the space outside Amanai as a coffee stand. In addition to take-out coffee, we will also be selling coffee beans and drip bags. Please note that depending on the weather, we may be able to serve coffee inside the store.

Also, to coincide with this event, we will be making a "cafe au lait base"! This is a drip bag that makes enough for one cup to easily brew cafe au lait by simply adding warm milk to coffee. We will give one of these cafe au lait bases to anyone who purchases an amanai original "cafe au lait bowl." Cafe au lait bases will be sold at both amanai and Shadore stores, so please feel free to purchase one.

It's finally getting cooler in Kamakura as October arrives. We look forward to seeing you there.
