The amanai logo

We asked Takahiro Murahashi to create our logo. He is an artist who works as an art project duo called "guse ars," and is involved in a unique project in which he reuses patterns from pottery fragments that have washed up on beaches and riverbanks as expressive materials. Under his own name, Murahashi is active in many areas, including the production and design of works centered around collage techniques.

Actually, at first, I thought that "We don't need a logo in our store." Since we are not the manufacturer or brand of the products, we don't need a trademark, and we were concerned that having a logo would create preconceived ideas about the products.

On the other hand, we also wanted to have a product lineup that wasn't tied to a specific genre, so we thought that if we had a logo that symbolized the store, people would be able to easily recognize us as one store, even if our product lineup was diverse.

Since the product is in the broad category of everyday items, we didn't want to set a specific motif, and we wanted a logo that would be unobtrusive so as not to get in the way of the product, but still memorable. When we presented this selfish request to Mr. Murahashi, he was happy to discuss it with us and successfully put it into shape.

The theme was "tools." It was a mysterious design that seemed complex yet simple, difficult to remember yet somehow memorable, and is perceived differently by different people. I remember that by creating a logo, the previously blurred image of Amanai came into focus. Thank you very much.

We hope that the logo will remain in the back of your mind and that you will remember Amanai and use it at any time.
