Ame New Year Decorations 2023

We will be holding an exhibition and order event for our "Ame" New Year's decorations at amanai.

Norihiko Kamei, an artist and ikebana artist, has his studio "Ame Kitakamakura" in Kamakura, where the atmosphere of a valley still remains, and creates works with a unique approach using a variety of natural materials including flowers. He has produced a variety of art products, such as "Hanayama", which captures the ideal landscape in the palm of your hand, and "Enmado", which can be hung on the wall to enjoy the view that spreads out outside the window.

I first visited the atelier in the summer of 2021. I remember the surprise of stepping into a completely different world from the outside world. The space, separated by a single wall, was more like a gallery than a workshop, and the atelier itself expressed the world created by Kamei.

The second time I visited Amanai was in December of the same year, when it opened. The New Year decorations on display were a vibrant creation of fresh Daio pine needles bound together and decorated with nandina berries to represent rain. I was amazed once again by the unique and bold concept. It was exactly like the rain and dew that nourish people's hearts, and was an expression unique to Kamei, who delicately captures the subtleties of nature.

At Amanai, we also displayed our New Year's decorations in front of the store, which attracted the attention of many customers and led to them coming to the store. Combined with the timing of our opening, we were encouraged by the opportunity to connect with our customers.

With Kamei's kind permission, we will hold an exhibition and order meeting at amanai. After placing your order, you can pick it up at the store or have it delivered to your home after December 26th. We will also be taking pre-orders on our web shop , so if you are far away, please come and have a look.
